Lewis Bros (Crewe) Ltd was founded in 1964 by Louis and Nita Manfredi. Prior to this, my father, Louis, started out in Longton working for his father and with his brothers selling Ice Cream from an array of vehicles, primarily consisting of hand carts and a horse-drawn wagon, pulled by Louis’s faithful horse “Dolly”. Then the "Stop-me-and-buy-one," came which was a bicycle with a large icebox attached to its front. Finally, after the war, came a surge in motorised vehicles.
In 1964 Louis moved to Crewe with his wife and family to start his own business Lewis Bros (Crewe) ltd.
Lewis Bros had a fleet of vans which serviced both estates and local parks and towns, making it well known in the area. Louis manufactured his own Ice Cream to his special recipe giving it its distinct creamy flavour; this became the taste people would wait for.
Due to the high demand for Lewis Bros Ice Cream a manufacturing plant was built to supply shops and hospitals, with this the birth of Cheshire Creameries and the splitting of the running of the business, my sister and brother running Cheshire Creameries and myself running Lewis Bros mobiles.
Lewis Bros continued to be the well known name for the mobile units and Lewis Bros trading as Cheshire Creameries for the manufacturing of bulk Ice Cream.
In 1996 I took over the mobile units from Lewis Bros; as Lewis Bros was still trading I renamed the mobile side M. Lewis Ice Cream thus enabling me to still keep the now locally famed Lewis name.
In 2006 M. Lewis branched into coffee and G G’s Coffee Bar was formed. We supply an array of coffee and hot drinks, a selection listed below
Espresso
A rich intense dark aromatic short coffee, traditionally enjoyed with sugar. Not for the faint hearted.
Cappuccino
A mixture of rich aromatic espresso combined with hot milk and a
foamed head. Ideally finished with a light dusting of chocolate
Americano
Black Coffee. A smooth rounded long medium strength beverage
suitable for all day drinking.
Doppio Espresso
A double “hit” of rich intense dark aromatic coffee. For true
espresso lovers.
Caffe Latte
A long mild milky drink made with a hint of coffee.
Chocolate
A full cup of freshly whipped hot chocolate topped with whipped cream.
Caffe Mocha
A full cup of indulgent coffee, chocolate and milk with a foamed
milk head. Ideally finished with a light dusting of chocolate powder.
Chocomilk
A mixture of freshly whipped hot chocolate blended with milk to produce a creamy chocolate drink.
